Wide feet create a specific boot-fitting problem: going up in size may add length without adding the right amount of width where you need it. That can leave you with extra toe room but still create pressure across the forefoot or instep.

How do you know if your feet are wide?
If standard shoes frequently pinch at the ball of the foot, leave red pressure marks, or force you to buy wide-width footwear in everyday brands, mention that before ordering. A measurement across the widest part of the foot gives more useful information than the word “wide” alone.
Measure length and width separately
A long foot is not necessarily wide, and a wide foot is not necessarily long. Record heel-to-toe length and forefoot width for both feet while standing.

Why simply sizing up can fail
If a boot is too narrow but already long enough, moving up a full size can place the flex point in the wrong location and create excess heel movement. Fit should be solved at the part of the boot that is actually causing the problem.
Leather can relax, but it has limits
Natural leather can become more flexible around the foot as it breaks in, especially at normal flex points. That does not mean a clearly too-narrow boot should be treated as acceptable. Initial fit should still allow comfortable circulation and natural toe position.
High insteps need attention too
Some customers describe their feet as wide when the main issue is actually volume across the instep. Lace-up and adjustable closures can help, but send that information when requesting fit advice.
Wide calves in taller boots
Taller medieval boots need to work around the calf as well as the foot. If you have a larger calf measurement, share it before ordering selected high-top designs so we can confirm what is possible.

Custom sizing is most valuable when your measurements fall well outside standard proportions or when past footwear consistently fails in the same area. Contact us through Custom Orders before purchasing so we can review the measurements first.
Fit before the event
