Outdoor LARP can move quickly from dry grass to mud, roots, gravel, and woodland paths. Footwear that looks impressive in a studio photo still needs to fit correctly and behave predictably when the ground is uneven.

Fit matters before grip
If your foot slides inside the boot, no sole pattern can fully compensate. Make sure the heel is controlled, the forefoot is not painfully compressed, and the boot bends near the natural ball of the foot.
Test the actual sole
Construction varies by style, so use the individual product page photos and description to understand the sole. Test new footwear on safe ground before relying on it in an active game.
Taller boots provide more coverage
A mid-calf boot can keep more dirt, leaves, and brush away from the lower leg than a low shoe. That can be useful in woodland play, though a taller shaft is not a substitute for correct fit.
Prepare leather for wet conditions
A compatible leather protector or wax can improve water resistance. Apply it in advance and understand that many treatments may darken the leather.

Break in boots before active play
Stiff new leather plus uneven ground is not a great first test. Build up walking time before the event and learn where the boot flexes.
Choose socks that manage moisture
Wet socks increase discomfort. Bring a spare pair if the forecast is poor or the game involves long outdoor sessions.
Clean mud after the event
Do not leave thick mud on leather for days. Let heavy dirt dry, brush it off, wipe the remaining residue, and dry the boots away from direct heat.
